PT-2000 Heat Wave Rock Small £15.54

The Heat Wave Rock simulates a stone heated by the sun (in nature, even after sunset, stones maintain some heat for several hours). Various reptiles, including nocturnal ones use this form of conductive heat for thermoregulation which is important for metabolism and digestion.
The Heat Wave Rock automatically shuts off when a certain surface temperature is reached, to prevent burns or overheating. The electronically controlled heating element is fully encased in the stone, preventing hotspots. The special thermal conductive resin is waterproof, non-toxic, easy to clean and ensures even heat distribution. Natural looking Heat Wave Rocks are available in three sizes and are easy to integrate in any terrarium set up , humid or dry.

What Our Reptile expert “John” says about ExoTerra Heat Wave Rocks

Heating in the vivarium or terrarium can be a problem for most of us, what is the best heating for my system? This must be the one question that we are asked the most and can be the most confusing!

Exo Terra Heat Wave Rocks.
Do not confuse these with the old Hot Rocks which used to be imported in from the years ago, and were responsible for many snakes and lizards being badly burnt. The Hot Rocks that are sold by ValueAquatics are manufactured by Exo Terra and have been designed with the care and attention that we have come to expect from their products.

The heating element is moulded into the special thermal conductive resin which makes them waterproof, non toxic and very easy to clean it also ensures even heat distribution. The Heat Wave Rock automatically shuts off when the surface temperature reaches approximately 28°C. This stops the animal from being burnt and simulates rocks in nature. The Exo Terra Heat Wave Rocks are designed to look as natural as possible so that they do not look out of place in most set ups. Most reptiles use conductive heat for thermoregulation which is very important for the digestion of food and their metabolism. ValueAquatics offer the Exo Terra Heat Rocks in three sizes:

PT-2000 Small 185x135x105mm
PT-2002 Medium 195x195x115mm
PT-2004 Large 355x240x120mm

Exo Terra say that the Hot Rocks should be used as a secondary heat source though I have used them with Corn Snakes and other North American Colubrids like King snakes and Milk snakes etc. They are also excellent for Leopard Geckos and Bearded Dragons (as background heat source).

John.
