Blagdon Pond Paint is formulated for new concrete in and around the pond. If you have and existing pond that needs resealing or repainting Blagdon recommend Blagdon V8 Pondseal. (Pond paint will not adhere properly to damp, or unclean concrete)
Preparation- Concrete must be fully cured and dried. This normally takes at least two weeks but may take longer depending on climate and render mix. Any loose concrete should be removed and the surface should be brushed clean before applying the paint.
Application. Stir thoroughly before use. Thin the first coat of paint with 10% water. This should be allowed to dry for 2-3 hours. 2 further coats at full strength can then be applied at 2-3 hour intervals. Pond Paint will not dry properly in humid environments extra drying time may be needed. If applying the paint to concrete that contains, or has been sealed with a waterproofer or hardener, it is advisable to test a small area first with the paint to ensure that adhesion is not adversely affected.
Coverage Coverage depends on the porosity of the concrete and the thickness of each coat of paint. Avoid applying the paint to thickly. Average coverage per coat varied from 4m2 to 6m2 per Litre.
Drying time Pond Paint is usually touch dry in 30-40 minutes and will be firm dry in 2-3 hours. Do not apply in wet or humid conditions. Protect from rain for at least 7 days after application, but ensure the pond is well ventilated. After 7 days the pond can be filled with water. If swallowed seal medical attention
Note whilst Blagdon make every effort to ensure pond Paint is compatible with most mixed of concrete, no guarantee can be given as to it's ability to adhere to all pond construction due to the variances in concrete in pond construction
